Naval Architecture ServicesWith an aggregate experience of over 60 years, MMD are well practiced in many areas of Naval Architecture. MMD has gained extensive knowledge and understanding in stability analysis from decades of experience, averaging well over 20 inclining experiments per year. MMD also carries out investigations into the cause of accidents resulting from insufficient stability. We have acted on behalf of insurance companies on numerous occasions to review possible causes of losses. We have also acted as expert witnesses advising courts with regards to marine related disputes. In response to a number of enquiries from vessel owners and operators, MMD committed considerable resources into researching and developing mathematical models for the design of moorings. We have designed and assessed moorings for a range of applications and vessel sizes. MMD has been involved with yacht measurement and yacht rule development since Ken McAlpine first measured Australia II prior to the 1983 Americas Cup. MMD has supplied measurement and rule management services for every Americas Cup Regatta from 1987 through to 2007. In addition MMD provides measurement and rule management services for the Volvo open 70 class, 12m class and plan approval for the 8m class. MMD carries out projects on behalf of clients ensuring that their interests are protected during construction and refit work. These services include the preparation of specifications through to owner’s representation. |
